I am interested in the evolution and causation of behavior. Research in my lab focuses on communication and social behavior of mammals and the neural mechanisms underlying these behaviors. We concentrate on olfactory communication, especially as it relates to social recognition and memory for individuals and kin, aggressive interactions, and sexual behavior. Most research is done in the lab, but we are starting up a new project in the field in spring of 2005. -Robert E. Johnston, PhD.
