RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:

Research Assistant, DeVoogd Lab,Psychology Department
Cornell University, Ithaca, NY

I am researching on the effects of housing environment on the hippocampus volume and neurogenesis of Black-capped Chickadee. I am working under the direct supervision of Bernard Tarr, a graduate student of our lab. According to our research hypothesis, captivity causes reduction in hippocampus volume, and reduces neurogenesis in hippocampus. My responsibilities in this project include mounting tissues on slides, immuno-histochemistry, nissl staining, cell counting in HVC (High Vocal Center), hippocampus volume tracing, and volume measurement using camera software.

Visiting Fellow, Bai Lu Lab, Laboratory of Cellular and Synaptic Neurophysiology
National Institute of Health, Bethesda, MD

Performed genomic DNA purification, genotyping, and assisted in behavioral studies on transgenic mice including Morris water task, Rotarod test, and Visual cliff test.

Research Assistant, Guan Lab, Department of Molecular Medicine, Vet Medical Center.
Cornell University , Ithaca, NY

Researched on Integrin-Focal Adhesion Kinase (FAK) signaling pathways and an adapter molecule Grb7, which has been, identified as one of the downstream mediators of FAK-stimulated cell migration.

Intramural Research Intern,Bai Lu Lab, Laboratory of Cellular and Synaptic Neurophysiology
National Institute of Health , Bethesda, MD

Investigated the role of activity-dependent transcription of BDNF gene in brain development and learning memory. Assisted in writing, and analysis of data; made poster presentation.
